This article discusses several reasons why a submission may end up with a total amount of $0.
You have just entered participant contributions and you see a $0 total contributions amount on the Review Submission page.
While at times, it's possible that a submission may not contain any actual employee contributions, this is unusual, so any contributions resulting in a $0 total amount warrant further review.
Below are several reasons why you may see an unexpected $0 total contribution submission:
All contributions resulted in validation errors, reducing the contribution amount to $0.
During the submission process, contributions are validated against a number of business rules. If all contributions in your submission encounter a validation error, resulting in the removal of those contributions, you may see that the total amount of your contribution is $0. Your plan does not allow a specific contribution type and it does not get processed during a submission
ProgramPay ensure that you may only process contribution types that are allowable for your plan. For instance, you will not be able to process Roth contributions if your plan does not allow them.
If certain types of contributions were not processed, and you feel that you entered contributions properly, (including a valid column header in your file) but you are not seeing any contributions come through, your plan design may need to be reviewed.
